The Yard Theatre

In 2011 Practice Architecture were commissioned to design and build the Yard Theatre. Working with a £7000 materials budget and on the basis of a three month life-span for the building, they quickly developed a simple design for an intimate auditorium who’s rake created a dynamic separation between theatre and bar.

The project formed the basis of an ongoing relationship in which the theatre was adapted for the growing and changing needs of the organisation. Practice Architecture designed the theatre, undertook technical and regulatory approvals, managed, undertook and oversaw the construction in just three weeks.
